Chartreuse de Glandier
About
Occupied by a medical-social centre until the beginning of 2020, this Cartusian monastery is a monumental ensemble that was founded in 1219 by Archambault VI Viscount of Comborn, on papal orders, in expiation for a crime.
This Carthusian monastery was also the scene of the famous Lafarge Affair. This drama made the name of Marie Capelle famous, as she was accused of poisoning her husband, Charles Joseph Pouch-Lafarge.
The Glandier site is partly steep-sided, protected by a number of undulations, and boasts an exceptional landscape.
The Carthusian monastery is currently privately owned and cannot be visited.
